Edgehill

While employed at Bechtel Frank Erickson Architects, Peter was the project architect for this project. Benchmark Senior Living provides a continuum of care levels within the Edgehill Community which enables the residents to age in place in a gracious and comfortable environment. Benchmark called upon the architects to design new additions for the project’s Independent Living, Assisted Living, Memory Care and Skilled Nursing residential suites. New common spaces were developed within the project including a new spa suite with lobby reception, new salon, exercise and treatment rooms, and new massage, occupational and physical therapy spaces. The locker rooms and indoor swimming pool spaces were upgraded. New landscaped areas were designed around the additions, while a verdant roof garden was created atop the new sky-lit ten-unit Assisted Living wing. In order to establish a new sense of identity for the facility, a new main entrance was built with a spacious sky-lit porte-cochere. Nine new Independent Living residences were built in two of the additions. These residences have a high level of finish on the interior with granite countertops, tiled glass fireplaces, and attractively appointed kitchens and bathrooms. The exterior wood shingle cladding and peaked roofs allow the additions to blend seamlessly into the existing community. Photos courtesy of Bechtel Frank Erickson Architects.
